Sewer hookups
Crescent’s sewer connection permit says all work must be done by a licensed, bonded plumber with an Iowa license number. It carries a $250 fee, needs 24 hours’ notice before the city inspects, calls for a $5,000 plumber’s bond and asks whether the house has a basement and sump pump.

Sewer plant
Crescent’s lagoon treatment plant was out of compliance with the Iowa DNR, and the city is replacing it in a project estimated at about $2.05 million (Pottawattamie County board update, October 2025).

Septic
Outside city sewer, Pottawattamie County Environmental Health requires permits for all new septic installations and repairs. Iowa law requires a septic system to be inspected before a home is sold, and a failing system may need replacing before the property can transfer.

An issue with the upstairs bathroom's water supply prompted our intervention. We expertly located the cold water shut-off valve, cut access to it, and marked it for future reference. This precise work ensures the customer can easily manage their water supply moving forward, facilitating efficient use of their on-demand water heater.
A severe backup in the toilet and septic tank was causing waste to flood the house. We inspected the system and found the tee inlet plugged. After cleaning the tee and removing the filter for thorough cleaning, we ensured that everything now drains properly.
We responded to a concern about a water heater issue reported by the homeowner. Upon inspection, we found the water heater was functioning properly. We discussed an alternative solution, such as installing a tankless water heater, but the homeowner chose to postpone any changes for now.
